Centre for Human Bioarchaeology and Paleogenetics of the Translational Health Research Institute integrates archaeology, anthropology, microbiology (including metagenomics), metabolomics, and genomics fields to advance research of the human past in Lithuania.
VU will actively participate in the activities related to the Eastern Baltic Archaeogenomics network (WP3) and pilot research project (WP4).
Dr. Justina Kozakaitė has been conducting human remains research since 2011. In 2013 she started working in the Department of Anatomy, Histology and Anthropology of the Faculty of Medicine of Vilnius University. Participated in the investigation of Vilnius St. The mummies of the Spirit (Doninic) Church, the remains of Kretinga Tyszkiewicz Chapel, St. Burial burials of Trinity Church cryptos and Nesvizy Radvila Masolier. Co-author of several articles and monographs, she currently teaches osteology and paleopathology and gives lectures on injuries and their identification.
